0 for 2 for the Zoo

Justin got off early today, it wasn't raining, it wasn't hot, Morganne got an early nap, so we headed for the zoo, in hopes that we would be there longer than 45 minutes and everyone would stay happy. The drive down was great, the weather was perfect, but DARNED IF THE ZOO WASN"T CLOSED TODAY!!!! In prep for Zoobilation they were closed all day. So, once again we turned around and came back home! This is getting frustrating. Third times a charm?!?!?

So, once home Daddy decided to take a nap and Morganne and I decided to entertain ourselves and broke out the finger paints. Here is a little video from our creative time. She loved it, I just wish her attention span were longer. It only lasted about 15 minutes total before she was ready to move on to the next thing. She then got a second bath of the day. (I realize it looks like she is in her birthday suit in this picture, rest assured, she is at least wearing a diaper!)

Agility weekend

Though it was hot, humid, and with very difficult courses, we had a very fun time at the HKC agility trial last weekend. Becky came in town and spent the three days with us and friends while showing in the trial. We were blessed with no rain, but definitely got the sunburns and tans started for the year. We only had one frustrating moment, when a wind gust picked up all three of our tents and sent them crashing end over end, and over cars through the grass. Becky's broke a leg, so we shot it and threw it away, Deb's was broken but still usable, and mine snapped two rods, but luckily we think they can be replaced. So, Friday night we went out and bought a new tent! Other than that, it was an enjoyable weekend. Morganne spent the day with us Friday and Saturday and was absolutely perfect. She even took an hour nap in her pack-n-play on Friday at the trial. What a trooper. I can't wait until she is showing her own dog someday.... Anyhow, here are a few pictures from the weekend. I will try to insert some video of Ripken's runs too, thanks to Deb.

Getting more courageous!

Something clicked and all the sudden Morganne is trying to walk!!! Yeah!!! As far as we know this all started yesterday at Nana and Grandad's.

Even though he hates most strangers, Zeke, is great with Morganne and allows more contact by her that from us sometimes. He's the only animal we have that really acknowledges her presence. Too cute.

Turkey Run adventure!

Sunday was beautiful and a great day for hiking. So, we loaded up the kids and set out for an enjoyable afternoon at Turkey Run. We were joined by Brittany, Bryant, and Curtis, and Nicci (and Kevin- sort of :cP).

Morganne, sporting her new (well gently used, smash of a deal garage sale find) Kelty hiking pack! She enjoyed being toted around by her Daddy- his shoulders on the other hand did not enjoy it so much that night or the next day!

Careful Daddy! Mommy is used to this by now, but you really gave Brit and Nicci a fright with your stunts with our daughter on your back!

We brought an extra outfit, but left it in the car- opps. So, as a nice Daddy would do, Justin gave up his shirt to keep his little girl warm.

No rain, nor sleet, nor snow or heat, shall keep the Grant's from the Zoo- but maybe it should have....

Today Justin had the day off and we'd been planning on using our new membership and visiting the zoo for about a week now. We woke up to steady hard rain, all morning. But alas, we decided that there was enough "indoor" activities that we would try it. So we ventured out. Due to construction it took us a hour to get there, then once there Morganne began to not feel well and we couldn't get her to stop crying to even really look at the animals. We think she has a sinus infection with a headache this morning. She was not impressed. So after about 45 minutes, we decided to pack up and leave. Once home, fed, and a two hour nap, she was in a much better mood. Oh well, we will try again some other day. That's the nice thing about memberships, I don't feel like we wasted much since it didn't cost us anything today. We still were together, and though frustrating, we tried. I think she will like it better next time!
